Phone Sync and Power Issues with Q5

I just got myself a 2013 Q5 and I'm running into a couple of things. I’ve paired my phone and synced my contacts, but the voice recognition thing isn’t picking them up - it keeps saying the directory is empty. Also, is it normal that I don’t have a constant 12v power supply? It only seems to work when the ACC is on.

Anyone else had these issues or know what’s up? Would really appreciate any help!

I’ve seen that voice recognition quirk pop up when the phone contacts have special characters or emojis in the names, it’s like the system can’t handle them. Try simplifying your contact names, then try to sync to the car again. The 12V outlets, yeah... unfortunately, they’re not active when the car is off. You will have to modify the wiring, to make it work while turned-off, which can be a bit of a hassle.

For the voice recognition, try unpairing and re-pairing your phone, and ensure the contacts are synced correctly. As for the 12V issue, it’s normal for some cars to only provide power when the ACC is on.

Ok, so I’ll try simplifying the contact names first and see if that does the trick with the voice recognition, if not then I will unpair and re-pair my phone. As for the 12V, I guess I was hoping for a constant supply, but I’ll look into the wiring modification if it really bugs me enough. Appreciate the help!
