Hi everyone, I’m new here and hoping someone can offer some advice. I’ve got a 2012 Audi Q5 S-Line with a 6-cylinder engine and 165,000 miles. It runs perfectly fine, but I recently got a code: P0492 Secondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow Bank 2.

I’m not very familiar with what this could mean. Is this a major issue I should address immediately, or is it something minor I can plan for later? The car seems to be running as usual, so I’m unsure how urgent this is.

I had a similar issue with mine before. It turned out to be a clogged secondary air injection system. This seems to be a common problem with this model.

The dealership initially replaced the pump, but that didn't fix the problem. Eventually, it was covered under a recall.

You might want to check if your car is eligible for a recall. If not, an independent mechanic could likely perform the necessary repairs, which often involve removing the front end and cleaning the system.

It's frustrating that a design flaw has caused this issue.

Maybe the there is a faulty SAIS pump control valve. Replace it if it is stuck. If not, it can be an electrical issue. So, have someone with expertise cheking it.

I know this issue is common in some Audi models. This is because carbon can accumulate in the air injection passages. The best is to have a mechanic check it out to pinpoint the exact cause. Good luck with that and if you want come up with a feedback.
