Newborn on the way! Torn between a Honda CR-V and Audi Q5 for the fam. We're 2 adults, 2 kids (1 out of a seat, 1 soon to be, 1 little one). Need good boot space, comfort, and reliability (like my trusty 7-year-old Accord!). EV could be a savings too.

Brain says CR-V: More space for kid fights, bigger boot, Honda's known for lasting forever, great reviews on the gearbox. Heart wants the Q5: It's sleek! Luxurious interior with all the tech and husband loves it!

Advice on which SUV will win the war between practicality and a shiny new badge?

Not that I'm against Audi reliability, but I would go for the Honda. They definitely have a reputation on par with Toyota's. While Audi makes fantastic cars, German brands can sometimes have minor electrical or tech issues that pop up more frequently compared to Japanese brands. That being said, the Q5 is undeniably luxurious and intriguing.

Try booking a test drive and follow what your heart says.

Honestly, both SUVs have solid points. The Q5 brings the comfort and luxury, but the CR-V is a practical, reliable workhorse. If you're planning longer trips with the kids, the CR-V’s cargo space might make all the difference. Maybe test drive both back-to-back? Sometimes you just feel which one suits the family better.

The Audi is definitely more appealing to the eye, feels much better inside, and is simply more enjoyable to drive. But if you require an automatic diesel, the Honda is your only option. I'd never buy a VW with that DSG transmission, especially a diesel one. They're always having problems with DPF and EGR.

The CR-V is highly dependable and spacious inside. It's not the most exciting car to drive, but it's comfortable and easy to relax in, especially with the automatic transmission. However, in order to get the automatic, you must have the twin-turbo engine and AWD, which will significantly reduce your gas mileage.
