Hello drivers! Help me with this one, please! Does turning off auto start/stop disable other mild hybrid functions, like energy-saving or regenerative braking?

Turning off auto start/stop in the Audi Q5 PHEV won’t disable regenerative braking or energy-saving features. These functions operate independently to improve efficiency, even when auto start/stop is off.

Thanks, I was actually wondering about that too! I've been looking for the answer, so I appreciate you sharing.

Turning off auto start/stop typically does not affect other mild-hybrid functions, like regenerative braking or energy-saving modes, which usually remain active.

That's a good question. It's a common misconception that they're all linked. Generally, turning off auto start/stop only disables the engine shutting off at red lights or in traffic. It should not affect other mild hybrid functions like regenerative braking (which captures energy during deceleration) or any other energy-saving features the car might have. Those systems usually operate independently of the auto start/stop function. I suggest to double-check your owner's manual just to be absolutely sure how it works in your specific car model, as there might be slight variations between manufacturers.
