Hi everyone,

The main engine bearing on my 2018 Audi Q5 failed a few miles after completing the 90K maintenance at the dealership. Do you know if this is a common problem with the model?

Oh no, that’s frustrating, especially right after getting the 90K maintenance done! While main engine bearing failure isn’t super common for the 2018 Q5, it’s not unheard of in higher-mileage vehicles, especially if there’s been any oiling issue in the past. It might be worth checking if there were any service bulletins or recalls related to this. Definitely a good idea to discuss it with your dealership, maybe they’ll work with you on the repair since it happened so soon after maintenance.

Rod bearings go out all the time, way more than main bearings. But honestly, if your car’s out of warranty, does it even matter? Either way, you’re stuck shelling out a ton of cash.
