Power Steering Issue After CV Axle Replacement

I just replaced the CV axles on my Q5, but now the power steering has completely shut down. Like it is very hard to steer anywhere. There’s a red steering wheel icon on the dashboard, and it says it’s unsafe to drive. I’m guessing I might have accidentally tripped the steering position sensor during the process. Or is it called that?

Has anyone else run into this issue or know how to reset the sensor? Is there a way to fix this without taking it to the dealership?

Try this and let me know if it works.

Make three left and right turns with the steering wheel.
The steering wheel should be moved smoothly and slowly. Take a full left turn, followed by a full right turn. Do this three times.
