DIYer here. My Q5 just threw a curveball! Changed the CV axles myself, and now the power steering is dead! Red steering wheel light on the dash says "unsafe" Thinking maybe I messed with the steering position sensor while I was in there. Anyone else encounter this after CV axle work?

If I were you, I wouldn't use it as of the moment. Suspension problems can be dangerous, especially with your family on board. It would be best to visit your dealer or if you have a trusted mechanic, have them check it.

If it says its unsafe, it is unsafe. You might've touched the wirings and it must've messed with the steering wheel. Its better to get someone to look at it before using it.
