loyal VW/Audi owner here (since the 90s!) considering a Q5 TDI.
Q5 TDI seems like a great car but I have service concerns.
it seems like the perfect blend - fuel efficiency of my old Toyota and the luxury/power of my A6.

however, my mechanic who has worked on many VW/Audi says he is worried it might be tough to find qualified techs to service the Q5's 3.0L TDI engine down the road, especially compared to the smaller VW diesels he's an expert with.
the service manager at a local Audi dealership confirmed they have limited techs trained on the 3.0L TDI and aren't training more.

is this a major concern?
long-term service worries me
any advice from TDI ownersis appreciated

You don't necessarily have to take your car to the dealership to have it serviced. There are many SKILLED mechanics at independent shops who specialize in servicing various diesel engines. Doing some research to find a reputable shop with good reviews can save you money.

I agree. There are probably many shops in the San Jose area that specialize in German cars.

The Q5 TDI offers great performance and efficiency, but limited tech expertise could impact long-term maintenance. You should consider availability of experienced TDI mechanics in your area.
