So I’m stuck with the unfortunate task of replacing the engine in my ‘12 Audi Q5 2.0T. I’m kinda stressing about potential issues with piston rings and oil consumption; so I really want to make sure I’m getting a solid replacement...

Got any good recommendations for where to get a reliable engine or tips on what to keep an eye out for when buying one?

Yeah, I’ve tried all the usual stuff - compression tests, oil checks, even ran a diagnostic scan. But honestly, it’s just not improving. The engine’s pretty much shot, so I’m thinking swapping it out is the way to go.

The oil consumption issue with the 2.0T is pretty well-known, often tied to piston ring wear.
If you are looking for a solid replacement, check out remanufactured engines from reputable spots like Sharper Edge Engines or used ones on eBay (just make sure to verify the seller).
Go for one with a warranty and get a good mechanic to inspect it before installation.
Also, ask if the piston rings have been updated. Good luck!
