Q5 excessive oil consumption

My Q5 2.0T has only 50,000 miles on it, but it has begun to use oil at a startling rate, which worries me. We have consistently changed the oil every 4,000 mile. The low oil light has been turning on considerably earlier than usual lately.

Could this indicate a major problem, such as a malfunctioning turbocharger, valve cover gasket, or PCV valve?

I want to keep this car in good condition and avoid major repairs. I would be very grateful for any tips.

My 2015 SQ5 experienced the same problem. The issue lies with the pistons and rings, which can also lead to trouble in cylinder 3. Believe me, this will result in expensive repairs because Audi hasn't improved the materials for this known issue.

Hey I think the excessive oil consumption at 50,000 miles could point to a faulty PCV valve, valve seals, or turbocharger issues. A professional inspection would help identify the root cause and prevent further damage.

I don’t want to scare you, but the oil issue was supposed to be resolved after the class action suit. I had a 2016 Q5 that ran fine for about 3.5 years, but then I started having to add oil. It’s gotten much worse since, and I was losing almost a quart every thousand miles. The car was still under warranty, but Audi claimed this was normal and refused to replace the pistons and rings.

After more discussions with Audi USA, they finally approved the repair under warranty, which I really appreciate.
