I unplugged Q5 PHEV from charging to head out, tossed my bag in the car, and boom! Doors locked themselves automatically. Luckily, my wife's key fob was nearby, but this could have been a disaster if I'd been further away.

Anyone else experience this with their Q5? It seems crazy to auto-lock without ever touching the key fob or door handle.

That seems a common issue for Q5. What I usually do is I don't fully close my door whenever I go out. I've actually used this trick with my other cars in the past as well.

That’s a bit wild! Did you check if the auto-lock feature can be adjusted or turned off in the settings? It seems like it might be a feature rather than a glitch.

That happened to me once as well. If the car detects the key fob as being too far away or not registering properly, it might lock automatically as a precaution. I recommend checking the fob battery or ensuring it's working correctly. I ended up replacing the key fob battery, and that solved the issue.

100% this could be it. Did this as well.

It must be the automatic locking feature that kicked in, which is common in many Audi models. That’s definitely a concern. Check the MMI system for auto-lock settings or reach out to your dealer for assistance
