Anyone else having trouble keeping their iPod charged in a 2021 Q5 PHEV? My iPhone charges fine, and I even saw a flicker of charging with an iPod Touch, but the iPod itself just keeps draining. Tried a different cable, no dice. Is there something funky about the way the system handles older iPods? Hoping someone else has a fix!

I don't think the issue is on the Audi system. I think you iPod's battery is the problem. Since your phone works fine, the issue likely lies with the iPod. Try using another cable for the meantime.

Has anyone else had a similar issue with iPods not charging? Could it be a compatibility problem with the older device? Let us know if you have a solution..

It seems like the 2021 Q5 PHEV might have trouble recognizing older iPods. Try checking the USB port to make sure you're using the right one for charging, as some are just for data. If that doesn't help, a powered USB hub might do the trick for more consistent charging. Also, make sure your Q5's infotainment system is up-to-date, as updates could improve compatibility with older devices.

I agree with octaneonmymind that the issue seems to be with your iPod. You could try using a different cable or test a different USB port if one is available.

That's a head-scratcher. I've seen some cars be picky about power delivery to older devices. It might be the Q5's USB port isn't providing the right voltage or amperage for the iPod. Or maybe there's a software compatiblity issue with the older iPod's chargng protocol. I'd try checking the Audi forums to see if anyone else has reported this.

It seems like the car's USB port isn't providing enough power for your iPod. Newer cars like hybrids can be particular about older devices due to their complex power systems. The issue is likely that the iPod's charging method doesn't match the Q5's. Some people have had success using a powered USB hub to provide extra power. You could check for MMI software updates, but it might just be an incompatibility issue. Unfortunately you might have to consider switching to streaming instead.

The Q5’s system might not be fully optimized for older iPods. Newer devices like the iPhone probably get more consistent power, while older iPods might not be getting enough juice from the USB ports. You could try resetting the infotainment system or using a different USB port, as sometimes certain ports provide more power. Also, check if the iPod has any settings that could prevent charging. Hope that helps
