Help with Powering a License Plate Camera on Q5 Deck Lid

I recently picked up a license plate-mounted wireless backup camera for my 2015 Q5 and ran into a bit of a snag. Most of the guides I’ve found recommend wiring the camera into the backup lights for power, but as many of you know, the backup lights on the 2015 Q5 are located in the bumper, not on the deck lid where the license plate is mounted.

So now I’m trying to figure out the best way to get power to the camera from the deck lid itself. The camera recommends a “hot lead,” but I think a 12V accessory power source would also work fine.

You can tap into the 12V accessory power from the deck lid’s wiring harness, like the trunk release or license plate lights.
