So I'm wondering between deck lid vs. bumper lights. Just installed a license plate camera on my Q5, but all the wiring guides show connecting to the backup lights... which are down in the bumper! Anyone know how to tap power from the deck lid for the camera? Ideally a hot lead, but even 12v accessory would work.

Hey! Did you get that license plate camera up and running? I’m gearing up to tackle mine for my 2015 Q5 and could totally use some advice. Any tips? TIA

I faced a similar situation when installing a camera on my SUV. I ended up tapping into the wiring harness for the deck lid release. There was a convenient access point where I could find a 12V accessory power source. Just make sure to check the wiring diagram for your Q5 to identify the correct wires. It made the installation cleaner and easier, so I recommend giving it a try.
