Gas prices are getting rough, and I'm interested in a PHEV or hybrid SUV to cut down on trips to the pump and save on mileage. I've been looking at the Toyota and Hyundai hybrids, PHEVs, and Audi Q5. Any thoughts on these? Are there any other small or medium SUVs in this range that I should consider? I'm not quite ready to go all-electric yet and don't need anything fancy or luxurious.

Do you have other vehicles? If so, an EV might be a great complement for short distance commutes and errands. Actually, range anxiety wasn't a problem at all on my recent 250-mile round trip. Modern EVs can handle commutes that distance easily. Plus, they're definitely a lot of fun to drive compared to PHEVs and hybrids. The instant torque makes a big difference.

Yeah, EVs are perfect for short trips and the range isn’t an issue for most modern models. Instant torque makes them way more fun to drive than hybrids.

Why aren't you ready to go all-electric yet?

I know EVs are pretty normal now and charging isn't a big deal anymore. But it's still nice to have an ICE car as a backup, just in case.
